Why can't we #PrayForSomalia? [Hi-Tech]

Somalia is mourning after the twin bomb blast last Saturday that left over 300 people dead and over 300 more injured.

As rescue operations continue, Somalis online are raising money to support the operations of the only free ambulance service in Mogadishu.

In less than 24 hours, a gofundme page created by Abdi Addow Nabadoone, a Somali based in Stockholm, Sweden, raised over 10,000 US Dollars to support the rescue operations.

A team of volunteers is also working from the offices of the Somali Ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management where they are active on Twitter and Facebook searching and identifying victims among other operations.

Using the handle @Gurmad252, they are collating a list of injured, dead, and missing people by asking families and friends to fill out online forms.

We have not seen enough hashtags like we see after such attacks in the Western world. Where are the hashtags #PrayForSomalia, #SomaliaNeedsHelp, #IAmSomalia and #JeSuisSomalie?

The world needs to be colour and geographically blind to disasters. Somalia needs help and support.

The Eiffel Tower went dark a few hours ago in solidarity with Somalia, while the Toronto Sign in Canada has been beaming in blue and white in support of the Horn of Africa country.

We are Somalia and Somalia needs us.
